What we do:
Process Improvement for
Remodeling Professionals, Custom Home Builders and the Trades
Essentially, through a system of Process Improvement.
We evaluate the anatomy of a construction company, determine where to start based on what would impact profitability the most and then begin the process.
By following this simple process we can continually improve every aspect of the company.
The Anatomy of a Remodeling Company
The Anatomy of a Remodeling Company
A remodeling company has three main divisions and then each division has multiple functions.
Using the process improvement cycle, we evaluate your current systems and advise on improvements in each area and function of your company. We also set up systems to evaluate those improvements and I am available to help implement the improvements if you would like.
"Sales is where you plan for profit, production is where you protect profit, and accounting is where you put your plans to the test"

1) Sales
Sales
● Sales | ● Design | ● Estimating
● The handoff to production
Sales is where you plan for profit. Arguably this is the most important piece of the puzzle. You want to sell to the right clients at a price point that we can pay everyone, pay yourself and make a profit.
In a personal coaching session we can discuss what percentage to mark-up your projects to achieve the profits you would like to earn.
2) Production
Production
Production is where you have to protect the profit you planned for in estimating. If you don't execute well you will not be as profitable as you planned for, you won't have enough repeat business and word of mouth referrals. Job autopsies are key to making adjustments to the processes.

This is where you review your plan for profit and make adjustments to processes.
Clearly, there are a lot more details that go into each one of these divisions but at a high level, these are the essential functions of the company. Each one needs well established processes in order to avoid chaos. Chaos is the enemy of profit. You must plan for profit in sales and execute well to protect it. Then review your profit in accounting so that you can make future adjustments in sales as needed.
"John came in and surgically went through our sales, estimating, production and accounting processes. One year later I was reviewing my P and L with my accountant and he said “wow huge improvement this year, what was the difference?” I told him John was the difference."
